The original Anchor Bands® – “Ties that Bind”

The “Ties that Bind” are a “set and forget” plant tie made from natural rubber latex with two permeability lifespans – a short life of 6 months and a medium life of 12 months.

The bands are made from natural latex and will biodegrade when exposed to UV light and moisture. An application of proprietary sunscreen has been applied and laboratory tests undertaken to perfect the lifespan based on accelerated ozone exposure. Of course, plant canopy density can cause a variation in both light and weather exposure which can shorten or lengthen the lifespan. Exposure to agricultural chemicals and solvents may also shorten the lifespan.

Anchor Bands®

Anchor Bands® are used to train plants in:

  • Vineyards - cane training, wire trellis, bamboo stakes and head tying
  • Table grapes - training to trellis
  • Tomatoes - trellis grown, stake grown and hot house grown
  • Nurseries - stake grown plants and support to trellis within the nursery
  • Orchards - branch training

Anchor Bands® are designed to stretch to accommodate plant growth over a period of time. The aim is to prevent damage to the plant which is often caused by the plant out-growing a supporting tie's ability to stretch!

Plastic, wire and stocking ties (or any tie that does not break down) will eventually girdle (strangle) the plant. The below graphic shows how Anchor Bands® are applied.

Anchor Bands® are not only soft on the hands and pliable, they can be applied quickly in one simple action.

Being rubber, Anchor Bands® provide excellent grip, even on smooth surfaces.

Wire trellis is renowned for being difficult to secure plants to. Plastic ties will slide up and down wire trellis and cut plant limbs and trunks with a sawing action.

Anchor Bands® will hold strong to the wire whilst also providing cushioning.

Anchor Bands® are biodegradable and will naturally decompose in the environment. There is no need to cut them away from the plants or dispose of.

There are many other products that look the same as Anchor Bands®, most are made from synthetic rubbers EPDM and are, in fact, permanent. They do not break down, they do not stretch sufficiently, they will strangle your plants, they are ecologically and environmentally harmful. They just don't do what Anchor Bands® were designed to do. They are often more expensive, you'll be then paying more for a product that is not fit for purpose.

Many of our images have been used without permission by others globally - we have not given permission to other suppliers to use the original Anchor Bands® photos. Ensure you are purchasing the original Anchor Bands® as there are many similar looking 'copies' on the market but the make up of those 'copies' are completely different to that of the original Anchor Bands®.
Dann's Marketing were the first to place Anchor Bands® into the horticultural sector as a plant friendly alternative to plastic ties - being natural, sustainable & environment friendly.
