Viticulture
Anchor Bands® have been used in viticulture for 30+ years to train vines to wire trellis and bamboo stakes.
Several training methods are used:
Cane Wrapping – where a cane is laid down after pruning and then secured by Anchor Bands® to the wire trellis.
Bamboo Stakes – where young vines are trained to bamboo stakes attached to wire trellis. The bamboo stakes themselves are also secured to the wire trellis.
Head Tying – where the vine is short of the wire trellis, Anchor Bands® can be used to breach the gap between the vine and the wire above.
Advantages of Anchor Bands®
- Easy to apply
- Soft on plants
- Made of biodegradable and sustainable natural rubber latex
- Allows the canes to grow without damage as sap begins to flow whilst staying securely fastened to the wire trellis
- Available in two life spans: short life of approximately 6 months and a medium life of approximately 12 months.
The most common size of Anchor Bands® used in the Viticulture sector is a No. 8 Vine. Cartons consist of 15 x 1kg packets with approximately 1,100 ties per kg.
